An account of the several Endowments given for
Charitable Uses in the Parish of Benenden.
1602 By Edmund GYBBON of Benenden Esq: a Freeschool house : and Lands near Beacon hill esti-
mated at 80 Acres towards the Maintenance of a master for the School.
1677 By Edmund GYBBON of Hole Esq : a House & Lands in Benenden called Sarnden
computed at 70 Acres, for the Maintenance of an Usher for the School
1699 The Feoffees by sale of Timber off from the said Farm purchased a House & Lands
estimated at 16 Acres, near the Beacon-hill for an additional Maintenance for the
Usher
1699 By the said Edmund GYBBON 50 Shillings a year paid out of Mr Thomas BATES'S
Estate in Rolvenden : This Charity is applied by the Minister and Church Wardens to
such poor as take no monthly Relief.
1712 By Mr Stephen GINDER 50 Shillings a year paid out of Lands called North Lands in Sale-
hurst in Sussex, now the Estate of Mr George SPRINGET of Hawkhurst, to be disposed of in the
same manner and at the same time with Mr Edmund GYBBON'S Donation
A Small House for poor People to dwell in : And also Lands belonging to the same, which Lands
alone are rented at 6 pounds 10 shillings a year, now in the occupation of John MUNN, Brickmaker, cal-
led Feoffee-Lands, disposed of by the Minister, Churchwardens, Overseers and other Trustees.
Two Small Houses at Iden Green for poor People to dwell in And one Field called Parish Lands
which single field is rented by Mr Munn at one pound a year. This Charity is distributed by the
Minister and Churchwardens to such Poor as take no monthly Relief.
This schedule was approved by the Parishioners at a Vestry held the 22nd August 1736.
