On the west wall of the Vestry. White marble tablet on black ground
only daughter of Thomas CHANDLESS, of York Place, London, Esqre the beloved wife of Thomas Twisden HODGES, Esqre, born August 28th 1797, died at Sandgate April 18th 1849, leaving no issue. Her devoted affection for her husband, her extensive and unostentatious charities to the sick and distressed poor, will never be forgotten by those who knew her well. May our blessed Redeemer reward her in his heavenly kingdom! Her mortal remains are placed in the family vault in this church, awaiting a joyful resurrection.
