John ROOTES of this Parish, blacksmith, who died January 23rd 1884 Aged 72 years also of Eliza ROOTES Wife of the above who died December.17th 1891 aged 80 years leaving 3 sons & one daughter Also near this place Charles son of the above who died January15th 1879 Aged 24 years and Emily Jane their daughter who died May 30th 1877 Aged 24 years Burial register for 4 June 1877 has Emily Jane OSBORNE aged 25 (and no record for ROOTES that year). Haslewood p91 has a slightly different transcription (the stone was apparently replaced after Eliza's death): In affectionate remembrance of John ROOTES of this parish, blacksmith, who died January 23rd 1884 aged 72 years, leaving surviving three sons and one daughter. Also, near this place Charles, son of the above who died January 15th 1879 aged 24 years. And Emily Jane, their daughter, who died May 30th 1877 aged 24 years.
