A substantial slate stone with high round top immediately flanked by rosettes and checked shoulders; at its head, above the wreath "Burgis, Cranbrook":
to the memory of Joseph RELF, Yeoman of this Parish, who died May 12th 1844 aged 73 years. Left surviving Frances his widow & two children, 1 son and 1 daughter, viz: Joseph and Frances-Jane.
Haslewood p22-23 adds words not visible on this stone:
daughter of the above Joseph and Frances RELF who died September 13th 1843 aged 22 years. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints".
