A tall stone with central ogee flanked by scallops, boldly incised in Roman lettering and clearly legible:

Sacred
to the memory of
George GOLDSMITH
of this Parish, Bachelor,
who departed this life
June 1st 1842
aged 69 years.
He was for upwards of forty years a
faithful servant to
Mr John RICHARDSON
of Sarnden in this parish.
This stone was erected by
James GOLDSMITH
as a tribute of esteem
and affection.
