In memory of
Samuel CHASMER of this
parish who died March 14 1778
aged 67 years.
Left issue four sons and five daughters.
Adieu vain World, I have seen enough of thee,
And now I am careless of what thou says't of me;
Thy Smiles I court not, thy frowns I not fear,
My cares are past, my head lies quiet here;
What faults you saw in me, take care to shun,
Look but at home, enough you'l find undone,
Grieve not my Wife and Children nor my Friends;
But prepare yourselves, before your days do end;
The time is short, that you must follow me,
May God and Christ your joy and comfort be.
Also Mary his wife died Decr
[29] 1794 aged 83 years.

Haslewood p84, who adds: [Register 1794. December 31. Chasmer widow]
